SDCSL Press Releases

San Diego, CA, April 19, 2011 - San Diego County Soccer League (SDCSL), announces the addition of three new divisions for the 2011-2012 seasons.  In addition to the existing six divisions  for Premier, Super Major, Major, First, Second, and Masters (30 & Over), the SDCSL announces the creation of the Legends Division (40 & Over).

There are eight confirmed teams as of this press release for the 2011-2012 season.  The Veterans Division, (50 & Over) as well as the Pensioners Division, (58 & Over) will be created based upon interest.  A minimum of eight teams is required to field these divisions.

The new Legends Division will have a Fall and Spring session with a 2 month hiatus in January and February.  A Managers working group is currently being formed to allow for an open forum to establish rules for these new divisions to promote maximum enjoyment for all involved.  The love of the beautiful game remains no matter the age and everyone enjoys the exercise, camaraderie and competition that soccer brings.

All SDCSL registered teams are eligible to compete in the annual United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) Veterans Cup if they meet the age requirements.  This competition was established in 1998 to encourage competition of teams from all over the United States in the following divisions (40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65).

Teams registered with SDCSL will be exempt from any additional player registration costs when entering this tournament.  (Please note team entry fees still apply).

The 2011 Veteran’s Cup will be held July 5 – 10, 2011 in Sanford, Florida.  Sanford is located about 20 miles north of Orlando, Florida.  Previous Veterans Cup competitions have been held in various locations around the United States.

Cal South hosts the Annual Adult State Cup which has multiple open and 30 and over divisions.  Cal South also hosts the Adult National Cup qualifying tournament.  Winners advance to the USASA Region IV Regionals.  Winners of the Regionals advance to the USASA Nationals Tournament.

All teams registered with SDCSL are eligible to compete in any other US Soccer sanctioned tournaments.  Registration in SDCSL also includes player medical coverage for all sanctioned practices and games.  For more information visit Cal South Adult Soccer or USASA.
